  1. Troubleshooting
  2.  
  3. AA Virtual London needs 16-bit Quicktime version 2.1.2
  4. installed (even if you are running under Windows 95).
  5.  
  6. QuickTime
  7.  If QuickTime has not been installed and setup correctly 
  8. you will experience problems
  9.  
  10. To fix this, do the following:
  11.  
  12. With certain graphics cards, Method 1 listed below may crash 
  13. your machine.  If this happens try Method 2.
  14.  
  15. Method 1
  16. a) Open the Windows Control Panel:       
  17.     -In Windows 95, select Start/Settings/Control Panel.  If 
  18.      you see two QuickTime control panels, perform steps 
  19.      b,c,d on both of them.         
  20.     -In Windows 3.1 and Windows NT, double-click the Control 
  21.      Panel icon in the Main program group.  
  22. b) Double-click the QuickTime control panel icon.  
  23. c) Click the More button, then click the Video tab at the 
  24.    top of the window.  The video page will appear.  
  25. d) Click Video Driver in the Draw Method box, then click 
  26.    Apply. Click Close to shut down the QuickTime control 
  27.    panel.  
  28. e) Restart Movie Player or the appropriate application to 
  29.    try again.  
  30. f) If the application still does not work, repeat steps 1-4, 
  31.    and choose a slower draw method (listed in the Draw 
  32.    Method box from fastest to slowest).  
  33.  
  34. Method 2
  35. a) Open a file called qtw.ini in Notepad.  You should find 
  36. this in "c:\windows\" or "c:\win95\".
  37.  
  38. b) Under the section [Video] you should see:
  39. Optimize=Hardware
  40. If you do, then change then the word "Hardware" to "Driver"
  41.  
  42. c) Select "Save" from the File menu to save your changes.
  43.  
  44. d) Restart Windows, and try running AA Virtual London Demo again.
  45.  
  46. If this doesn't solve the problem then try Un-Installing QuickTime
  47. and then Re-Installing QuickTime.
  48.  
  49. Panoramas  
  50.  The QuickTime VR panoramas in the areas of London may be 
  51. running slowly for the following reasons:  
  52.   
  53. 1. You clicked the check box for the minimum installation 
  54. (requiring 2Mb of free space on your hard drive) for 
  55. loading animations and panoramas.   
  56.   
  57. If this is the case then your panoramas will run more slowly 
  58. from the CD-ROM than if they were running from the hard 
  59. drive. If you wish to run the panoramas from your hard 
  60. drive, take the following steps:  
  61.   
  62. a) Free up 8Mb of space from your hard drive.  
  63. b) Click on the Uninstall icon to clear the AA Virtual 
  64. London Demo directories on your hard drive.  
  65. c) Install the disc. When the Installation Options window 
  66. appears, click on the check box for a full installation 
  67. (requiring 8Mb of free space on your hard drive).  
  68. d) Continue with the installation.  
  69.   
  70.   
  71. 2. The panoramas may be running slowly (with a slow screen 
  72. refresh rate) because your system driver is incorrectly 
  73. configured. To solve this problem, do the following:  
  74.   
  75. a) Open the Windows Control Panel:       
  76.     -In Windows 95, select Start/Settings/Control Panel.  If 
  77.      you see two QuickTime control panels, perform steps 
  78.      b,c,d on both of them.         
  79.     -In Windows 3.1 and Windows NT, double-click the Control 
  80.      Panel icon in the Main program group.  
  81. b) Double-click the QuickTime control panel icon.  
  82. c) Click the More button, then click the Video tab at the 
  83.    top of the window.  The video page will appear.  
  84. d) Click Video Driver in the Draw Method box, then click

  93. Flashing Cursor
  94. Go to Mouse Settings in the Control Panels.
  95. Click on the "Pointer" tab.
  96. Under Scheme, Select "(None)".
  97. Click on the "Motion" tab.
  98. Deselect the Pointer trails.
  99.  
  100. If the above does not work, ensure that the graphics 
  101. acceleration is set to full. To solve this problem, do
  102. the following:
  103. Go to System in the Control Panels.
  104. Click on the "Performance" tab.
  105. Click on the "Graphics" button.
  106. Ensure the acceleration is set to "Full".
